Part of the Long Island City Annual Art Festival, the images depict endangered species in a fossilized state. The intention is to create an awareness of animals that are commonly appreciated in zoos and wild-life parks but nevertheless are near extinction. The paintings are done on sidewalks so that they will get worn-out by pedestrian traffic. There's symbolism in having the “animals” slowly fade away under our feet. There are three, all located in LIC, at Local Project Art Gallery, 11-27 44Rd between 21 and 11 streets, at The Secret Theater entrance, 23 street just north of 44Dr, and at an alley/drive way between two buildings on 21 street and 44Ave.
